We would like to give you a few tips before your first scooter ride.
What you should definitely consider:
-
In Bali, traffic is on the left and very turbulent at that - even experienced drivers should take some time to get used to the road conditions at the beginning.
-
It's not exactly comfortable, and it's not great at 30 degrees either, but it protects you in the worst case: ALWAYS wear a helmet!
-
Don't forget your sunglasses when riding a scooter! It not only protects you from being dazzled, but also from dust being thrown up.
-
Most accidents happen when (after rain) there is dirt and sand on the road and you don't take your foot off the gas.
-
Wear suitable footwear! If you don't want to do without sandals when driving, sandals that sit firmly on your feet are more suitable. In this case, it is better to avoid flip-flops.
-
You should always have a sarong (traditional wrap skirt) or a small beach towel ready in the helmet compartment. This can be useful in a variety of situations, but you'll be happiest when your seat is so hot after parking that you can't sit in it without protection.
